Today, about 65% of India’s population falls in the working age-group. However, a large number of them, especially in rural areas, are still living in poverty. This can be attributed to the fact that a huge part of India comprises of an unskilled population.
While many might view the fact stated above as a concern, we at Muthoot Group see it as a demographic advantage waiting to be leveraged through skill trainings, which can be imparted to people to help enhance their employability.
At any given moment, you’ll find people around you who have the capability but lack the necessary training to earn their livelihood. But, owing to circumstances, lack of exposure and means, etc., they have been thus far unable to realize their dreams. To address this situation, The Muthoot Group has recently launched the Muthoot Skill India project in association with Centum Foundation, which is the CSR arm of Centum Learning, a Bharti Group company. The primary aim of this project is to impart free of cost skill development trainings to the underprivileged youth across the country, to help improve their employability.
The first of the Muthoot Skill India Centres is situated in Haryana, and has already been inaugurated in the Tigaon Village, Faridabad. Built in a total area of more than 4000 sq. ft., this center has state-of-the-art equipment for conducting skill development trainings.
Under this program, 500 underprivileged individuals from the villages of Faridabad will be provided free of cost skill trainings in fields like Call Centre Executive, General Duty (GD) Assistant/Nursing Assistant, Sewing Machine Operator, Beauty Assistants, etc.
The aim of the Muthoot Skill India program is to make these individuals self-reliant by empowering them with the required employable skills. This program is all about helping these people create successful realities for themselves as not only will the Muthoot Skill India program impart employable skills, but will also facilitate wage employment or self-employment. Those that choose self-employment will be assisted with setting up their own businesses as well.
Since the project will also encourage beneficiaries to set up their own businesses and provide them the required assistance, the Muthoot Skill India project will also contribute to the Start-Up India Mission as well as the Make in India Mission.
Many a time people face difficulty in finding suitable employment due to lack of necessary work skills. There is a big percentage of unskilled labor in India, and at a macro level, it results in underutilization of the manpower available at hand. The Muthoot Skill India Project is an attempt to help such people out, offering the underprivileged a chance to shine, and realize their dreams.
