AWARENESS CLASS ON ‘CHILDHOOD DISORDERS AND STUDY SKILLS’

After the general acclaim received from the participants of the preliminary session conducted on Childhood disorders at Muthoot Healthcare in September, there has been a consistent request from many schools to conduct similar such educative sessions at the school venue itself.

Consequentially, a team from the Department of Psychiatry, Muthoot Healthcare comprising Vidya Thankappan, Clinical Psychologist and Nimmy Koshy, Medical Social Worker conducted specialized sessions at Bethany School, Vennikulam for the parents and teachers of the wards admitted there. It led the audience to a greater grasp of various childhood disorders and study skills related topics in the informative sessions so conducted

These sessions were instrumental in aiding in the identification of various disorders, thus foreseeing as well as vastly preventing behavioral issues. A host of topics ranging from learning disability, ADHD, exam anxiety, behavioural disorders and study skills were covered, alerting the adult audience about the various behavioural, discipline and academic problems that existed.

The positive feedback from Bethany School provided a fillip to the efforts of the Psychiatry Department, which has been encouraged to continue to conduct more such scholastic sessions.
