MUTHOOT FINANCE HONOURS & SUPPORTS ARTISTS, WRITERS & THEIR WIDOWS

Muthoot Finance Ltd, India’s largest gold loan company’s Corporate Social Responsibility wing Muthoot M George Foundation launched “Muthoot Sneha Samanam” to honor artists, writers, and their widows by providing financial assistance. This initiative is a part of one of the Corporate Social Responsibility activities undertaken by the company for FY 2014-15.

The program was inaugurated by Shri K C Joseph, Cultural and Rural Development Minister, Govt of Kerala along with Shri K L Mohana Varma, Malayalam Language novelist, Mr. George Alexander Muthoot, Managing Director, Muthoot Finance Ltd,. Other senior officials present during this occasion included Shri Tony Chammany, Mayor Kochi Corporation, Shri Hibi Eden, MLA – Ernakulam, Mr. George Thomas Muthoot, Joint Managing Director, Muthoot Finance Ltd & Mr K P Padmakumar, Executive Director, Muthoot Finance Ltd.

A total of 98 applications were received from artist, writers and their dependents out of whom 14 beneficiaries were short-listed for providing financial assistance. These beneficiaries belong to various different backgrounds, which specialize in their respective work segments namely writers, music directors, ganmela artists, professional painters, etc. The initiative aims to help the upcoming generation of artists and writers who could get inspired and learn from the work of these professionals. Perhaps it will also help the young minds of today in learning from their experiences and carrying forward their work in their respective fields.

Inaugurating the program Shri K C Joseph said “Recognizing arts and culture is a noble initiative to undertake. It is the need of the hour to recognize and reward the work undertaken by the talented creative professionals who have played a crucial role in promoting and up keeping the rich art, culture and literary work of this proclaimed artist”.

Mr George Alexander Muthoot said “It has been our constant endeavor to make significant contributions towards an equitable and sustainable society. Through this initiative our prime objective is to recognize, respect and honor this intelligentsia who inspired and ignited new wave of thoughts and creative literary work which gave the society a new ideas and mindset but also inspired many. We will remain duly committed to our obligations to our society and will ensure that our efforts towards it remain constant and enduring in the near future too”

Muthoot Finance has started a healthcare outreach program called Muthoot Snehasraya in Kerala. The project encompasses of a High Tech Mobile Ambulance which will help in prevention and early detection of Kidney related diseases, diabetes and Hyper Tension ailments. Muthoot Finance is also helping many Kidney patients by way of dialysis. Last year we helped 1500 individual cases for dialysis.
We have in collaboration with Kerala & Tamil Nadu Kidney Research Foundation established an Award for the best researcher in Kidney disease prevention methods.

Apart from this we have provided scholarships to the 10th standard topers of the Government Schools in the states of Kerala, Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh. Schools 600 students were covered under the program last year. This year the Excellence awards will be extended to 1000 govt schools of Kerala and 400 schools each in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh states.

We have also donated an ambulance to General Hospital Ernakulam. That helps many poor patients in their emergency situations.

As part of Individual Social Responsibility we have a blood bank named “Muthoot Navajeevan” which includes the details of employees who are interested to donate their blood to public. Through this initiative we have helped a number of patients in their emergency needs.

Our employees are also participating in the organ donation program started by the Government of Kerala.
