MUTHOOT FINANCE LAUNCHED WATER PURIFIER DISTRIBUTION FOR GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS IN MADURAI

Muthoot Finance Ltd’s Corporate Social Responsibility wing Muthoot M George Foundation launched its educational initiative “Water Purifier distribution program for government schools in Madurai.  The educational initiative is a part of one of the Corporate Social Responsibility activities undertaken by the company for FY 2014-15.

The Water Purifier distribution for 2014 was Inaugurated by the District Collector of Madurai Dr. L Subramanian in the presence of Mr. George Jacob Muthoot, Joint Managing Director, The Muthoot Group and the Chief Educational Officer Mr. J. Angelo Irudhayasamy. The other officials present during this occasion included Mr V Surianarayanan, Regional Manager, Muthoot Finance Ltd, Mr. Babu John Malayil, AGM, Corporate Communications, Muthoot Finance Ltd. along with the Head Masters /Mistresses, students, Parent Teacher Association members, teachers and others.

The program is a pilot activity undertaken by the company for Madurai government schools and will be extended to all government schools of Tamil Nadu in the near future.

The District Collector appreciated the CSR activities of the Muthoot group.  He appealed to donate 40 more water purifiers to the Govt. schools in Madurai District which deserve the facility to the students.  The company has agreed to render this service as per the Collector’s advice shortly.

Mr George Jacob Muthoot said during his address as follows:” It has been our constant endeavor to make significant contributions towards an equitable and sustainable society. Through this initiative our prime objective is to be able to provide safe drinking water facility for children of deprived class, who constitute the main student population of Government schools. We will remain duly committed to our obligations to our society and will ensure that our efforts towards it remain constant and enduring in the near future too” Some of the Major CSR Activities conducted recently by us are:

Muthoot Finance has started a healthcare outreach program called Muthoot Snehasraya in Kerala, The project encompasses of a High Tech Mobile Ambulance which will help in prevention and early detection of Kidney related diseases, diabetes and Hyper Tension ailments.

Muthoot Finance is also helping many Kidney patients by way of dialysis.  Last year we helped 1500 individual cases for dialysis. We have in collaboration with Kerala & Tamil Nadu Kidney Research Foundation established an Award for the best researcher in Kidney deceases prevention methods.
Apart from this we have provided scholarships to the 10th standard toppers of the Government Schools in the states of Kerala,  Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh. Schools.600 students were covered under the programme last year. This year, the Excellence awards will be extended to 1000 govt schools of Kerala and 400 schools each in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh states. We have also donated an ambulance to General Hospital Ernakulam.  That helps many poor patients in their emergency situations.
As part of Individual Social Responsibility we have a blood bank named “Muthoot Navajeevan” which includes the details of employees who are interested to donate their blood to public. Through this initiative we have helped a number of patients in their emergency needs. Our employees are also participating in the organ donation program started by the Government of Kerala.
