Applying for PAN Card: How to Apply Online

For those who don’t have a PAN card yet, fret not. Here are the two ways in which you can apply for a PAN Card online –

The first method is to apply through the National Securities Depository Limited or NSDL. All you have to do is visit www.onlineservices.nsdl.com and click on the ‘Apply for a new PAN card’ tab. A form will appear on the screen – fill up the form carefully and submit.

The second method is to apply via UTI Infrastructure and Technology Services Limited or the UTIITSL. It was established in 1993 to provide various services to the investors of the UTI scheme. Here, you have to visit https://www.utiitsl.com/ and click on the PAN services option on the menu bar. A drop down will be shown with the ‘Apply for a PAN card’ option at the top. Click and fill the application for the card accurately.

While these two are online methods of applying for a PAN card number, you can also apply for a PAN card offline at any of the district-level PAN agencies. Once you apply for the PAN card, whether online or offline, a 15-digit acknowledgement number will be provided to you. Using this acknowledgement number, you can check the status of your PAN card.

How to Check Status of PAN Card Application?

You can check your PAN card application status by name, mobile number, and so on. However, below mentioned ones are some of the most preferred ways. An important thing that you need to keep in mind is that irrespective of which method you have used to apply for a PAN card online, the acknowledgement number can be used on both websites for you to check the PAN card status. Here are the steps to follow: –

Check PAN Card Application Status through NSDL Website:

• Visit the NSDL website

• Choose the type of application type and click on ‘PAN-New/Change Request’

• Enter the acknowledgement number that is provided to you

• You will get a captcha code that you need to enter for verification

• Click on the submit button

• The status of your application will be displayed.

Checking PAN Application Status through UTIITSL:

• Visit https://www.trackpan.utiitsl.com/PANONLINE/trackApp

• Enter the acknowledgement number, which may be also given as the application coupon number

• Enter your date of birth

• A captcha code will be shown, which you have to enter for verification

• Click on the submit button

• The status of the application will be displayed on the screen.

You need to note that you can start tracking the status of your PAN application only after 24 hours of submitting the form.

Tracking PAN Card Application Status: Some Other Ways

If you are not able to track your PAN card application through websites due to internet problems, server issues, and so on – here are some other easy ways to track the status of your PAN card application

Check PAN Card Status by Phone Call

To check via call, you need to call on 020-27218080 between 7 AM to 11 PM. You have to provide the 15-digit acknowledgement number to the call executive, who will assist you with the tracking. Once you provide the acknowledgement number, the status of your PAN card application will be obtained. You can also track the status through Interactive Voice Response (IVR) from 11 PM to 7 AM.

Checking PAN Card Application Status via SMS

Here, you have to send an SMS to 57575. To check and get the current status of the PAN card on your mobile number by SMS, you have to write ‘NSDLPAN’ followed by the 15-digit acknowledgement number. Once you send the SMS, the current status of your PAN application will be sent to the registered mobile number.

You can also check PAN card status by name and date of birth in case you don’t have an acknowledgement number. Not to forget, you can also do a PAN card status check by AADHAR number.

You will usually receive the PAN card around 15 working days later, from the day of submission of the application.
