How to Download e-PAN Card Online - a Step-by-Step Guide?
Aadhar Card and PAN card are two of the most important documents for Indian citizens. PAN, or permanent account number, is a unique 10-digit alphanumeric identity allotted to each taxpayer by the Income Tax Department under the supervision of the Central Board of Direct Taxes. It is a mandatory document for any individual/non-individual (including foreign citizens/entities) earning taxable income in India The primary objective is to use a uniform identification mechanism to track financial transactions that might have a taxable component to prevent tax evasion. NSDL and UTIITSL are the official platforms for PAN-related tasks. Through these, you can apply, check your status, download e-pan card, and edit your PAN card. You can also link your Aadhar to the PAN. For filing for an e-PAN Card download, the details of your Aadhar should be correct. An e-PAN links your Aadhar with your PAN.
What is an e-PAN?
An e-PAN is a digitally signed PAN card issued in electronic or digital format by the Income-tax department. You can apply for both a physical PAN card as well as an e-PAN card. However, the unique 10-digit alphanumeric identification code allotted to you remains the same.
How to Download e-PAN Online Using NSDL Website?
For downloading your PAN card through NSDL, you can visit the official NSDL E-PAN card download website https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/requestAndDownloadEPAN.html
Here, you will get two options to download e-PAN. One is using the Acknowledgement Number and the other is using a PAN card.
Download e-PAN Using PAN card
Under the NSDL portal, the download e-PAN card facility is categorized in two ways, i.e. PAN allotted in the last 30 days, and PAN allotted older or more than 30 days. The steps to download the e-PAN card online in both ways is being summarized here under–
For PAN cards issued in the last 30 days

Step 1: Visit the site https://www.tin-nsdl.com

Step 2: Click on ‘Download e-PAN card (For PAN allotted in the last 30 days).

Step 3: Enter the Acknowledgment Number and Captcha Code.

Step 4: Click ‘Submit’.

Step 5: Following three options are available to receive OTP–
- E-mail ID
- Mobile Number
- Both the Above

Step 6: Select any one of the options to receive OTP and click on ‘Generate OTP’.

Step 7: OTP would be received as per the option selected.

Step 8: Enter OTP and click ‘Validate’.

Step 9: After successful validation, click on ‘Download PDF’.
The PDF file so downloaded of the e-PAN card would be password protected, and the password of the same would be Date of Birth / Date of Incorporation / Date of Formation in DDMMYYYY format.
For PAN cards older than 30 days

Step 1: Visit the site https://www.tin-nsdl.com.

Step 2: Click on ‘Download e-PAN card (For PAN allotted older or more than in last 30 days).

Step 3: Following details are required to be provided–
- PAN; Aadhar Number (only for individuals)
- The month of Birth and Year of Birth
- GSTN (optional)

Step 4: After providing the above details, click ‘Submit’.

Step 5: On clicking ‘Submit’ an e-PAN card can be downloaded.
Download e-PAN Using Acknowledgement Number

Step 1: Go tohttps://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/requestAndDownloadEPAN.html.

Step 2: Click on ‘Acknowledgement Number’.

Step 3: Enter your Acknowledgement Number.

Step 4: Enter your Date of Birth / Incorporation / Formation.

Step 5: Enter the Captcha Code.

Step 6: Click on the ‘Submit’ button.
Your ePAN card will be available for download.
Things to Know Before Downloading e-PAN card Online

e-PAN can be acquired free of cost for a limited period.
-
e-PAN cards are issued to individuals only and not to HUFs, trusts, organizations, businesses.

The applicant’s Aadhaar card details are used to generate the electronic PAN Card.
Conclusion
The facility to download your PAN card in a PDF format and store it digitally on your device saves you from carrying it physically. It also prevents misplacing your physical PAN card. An e-PAN is valid for all financial transactions and domains where a PAN is required.
